now i know this is going to sound really weird and i almost would believe it if i hadnt seen it with my own eyes but I was there and I saw it. I just want to know if anyone knows what kind of frog it was. At first glance it was a regular tree frog, but when someone went to touch it, it arched its back and two horn like bones jutted from its lower back. Has any ever seen or heard of a frog like this? The frog was caught in VA Beach. when it jutted the horn like bones we jumped and the frog got away. please tell me i just didnt let a mutant free...

Seed- Horned frogs are not that uncommon, although you don't see them much. A look on Google elicited a bunch of mighty fine looking frogs. Which one was yours?

not that kind of horn Phoenix... like two sharp, defense like objects protruded through two slits in the animals skin just above the animals hip and then sunk back in.... this is why i can not find what it is... i have never seen ANYTHING like that at all....

Little late to find this and think about posting, eh? Haha, oh well. Anywho, this is awesome and I'm going to look for it! I probably won't get too angry at you if you're lying, I'm sure I'll learn cool stuff about frogs either way.

Need additional clues; color of frog, size of frog, habitat.

Were the "horn" projections covered with skin, or bare, and if bare, what color/material?

Some tree frogs have very long legs (which they keep tucked up tightly against their sides) and bright white undersides, and when they arch their backs before jumping the knees point upward briefly exposing the white underside. Some frogs might even do this instinctively to startle predators, like you Smile (but I'm only guessing, since I wasn't there).

well they were bare... bone, in color and appearance. it wasnt its legs... though i can see how you might think it was. it was a tree frog, similar to the pic you posted above, just with two bone horns juttin out the back

well that what we thought at first... but when faced with being put in the jar it would thrust his hips up and try and stab the rim of the jar
