Outside pets inside tonight? Brrrrr.

Reply Thu 23 Jan, 2003 06:48 pm
It is actually dipping toward the arctic down here in S. GA. All dogs are inside. Ranger has never been in, and thinks he is in Buckingham Palace. Stretched out near the heater.

We thought the wild boy would have torn the kitchen up by now. Have placed kiddie door in the door frame, to keep doggies in kitchen.

Question:
When we brought Ranger etal in, we noticed the whites of his eyes are reddened. Perplexed. Can this be a normal occurrence, or are we in for a trip to the vet tomorrow?

Any responses appreciated.

My avatar's eyes are usually red. He's part shepherd, and prone to allergies. No big deal at all. Probably just lots of stuff in the air that he's not used to. I'll wager you his nose runs at some point this evening as well.

LG: I hope your visitor will be okay and that nothing is wrong. I'm sure it's as Patiodog said.

I'm watching my kitty here as I compute, he is so funny. He is playing with a plastic tie (garbage bag tie). He hides it under the hall closet doors then tries to retrieve them by placing his paws under the door. The dumb thing doesn't realize I left the doors open so he could have his fun. I must have a blonde kitty kat:)

I love him, just wanted to share this.

Nothing is either dumb or abnormal for a cat Misti. Spooky sneaks up on the bowl, flips out a piece of kibble, and kills it. Just part of being a cat. It's okay, though. He always eats what he kills.

I'm not a 'cat person', but I dearly love to watch them play. The mid-air pause, and the nutty kill. Hilarious. Love kitty antics.

LG: I also love their antics. The sudden bursts of energy, from dozing to catapulting from one piece of furniture to the other for about a minute, then all is quiet again.

Who needs TV with an animal around:)

I have had cats and dogs residing in the same home, and they are so comical.

One cat would hide under a piece of furniture and bat at the dogs as they trotted by. It was hysterically funny to see there reaction to the unnoticed, lightening fast contact. Or one cat would choose a higher perch and swat at an unsuspecting passerby. One of my favorite mental pictures was a young cat lying amongst a pile of dogs. She was so comfortable with them, its like she didn't know she was a cat. When I fired up the camera, the flash squeel scared her off. She was more scrutinizing when she was older. **sigh**

About red eyes, hopefully it is just an irritation. Unless there is some scratching, rubbing or secretions, it should be ok.

williamhenry-- I just had six beautiful puppies at Christmas! Don't know how they would have held up in UPS, however.

You need some furry lovin'! Why no pet? Crying or Very sad

Congratulations on the puppies!

I don't have a pet because I am just now -- after 2 1/2 years -- having some relief from the intense grief I have had over the death of my last pet. He was ten-years-old, and one of the best friends I have ever had.

That's horrible!

I can't imagine what that's like. Our Jack is ten. I can't think about losing him.

Would it be a good thing, or not to talk about your pet? If not bad for you, tell about him.

If you feel comfortable navigating [email protected], please go there and look up my featured interaction. There, you can read my little essay entitled A Lament for Fella.

I don't think -- not to be unkind to you -- that I could write any more about that precious dog.

I understand completely, bless your heart.

Will contemplate scary trek to abuzz. Have heard frightening stories, but I do want to see your writing.

Hope you continue to mend. A new furry one will not replace your Fella, but can possibly help you. Regardless, you are in my thoughts.

Thanks for your kind words. I do believe that I am "on the mend."

I should have written that you should go to Abuzz and look up my profile page and you will find my writing there. Abuzz shouldn't be too scary; I find it easier to navigate than this forum.

Just look under "williamhenry3" and you'll find my dog story there. If you can't find it, that's okay. I still appreciate your kind words and understanding.

williamhenry - i love mutts! i followed the link you sent me the other night - i signed up for the daily comix - today's is beeeeeautiful if you're owned by dogs, as i am.

I haven't taken my two out for 3 or 4 nights now - they go out quickly, do their 'hurry up' and rush back in. The screen door makes that horrid frozen solid thunk as it shuts. I'm hoping it will be warm enough tomorrow to take them for a nice walk again. We all miss it.

williamhenry - your featured interaction on abuzz was very special. you know i always think of you and what you could offer to a dog whenever i hear about a dog in need. you're a good doggie-daddy. love ya, guy.
