Jesusgirl, what's a respiratory degree?
A respiratory degree is a degree in respiratory therapy...actually in my case, an associate degree in Allied Health Science with a major in respiratory therapy. Most respiratory therapy programs in this country are through community colleges. I attended Macomb Community College in Clinton Twp., Michigan.
I'm working my Ed. degree at Wayne State U., Detroit.
Many years ago and far away..
- Mount St. Mary's College in Los Angeles for my freshman year, pre med.
- UCLA for four years (worked at the same time), BA bacteriology
- (internship as med tech, CA state licence)
- UCLA extension, four years of studio art classes at night
- UCLA extension, three and a half years landscape architecture classes at night
- (internship in landarch, national boards, state license).
There are still a lot of things I'd like to study and do. Life is shorter than it seemed..
For Jim and the Duke - my boss, his son, and one nephew all have degrees from Colorado School of Mines. I believe one is electrical engineering, and the other two, petroleum.

Not exactly the official nickname (there was no official nickname), but the only degree offered was a BA in Scholastic Philosophy
I always thought they called them respiratory degree because your parents could breathe easier after you graduated and got out.....
bear and I went to different schools together
I graduated from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, class of 1980 - Geaux Tigers! - with a B.A. in Speech/Theatre, and about a 3.0 average (had to maintain that to keep my scholarship), and managed to get as little actual education as possible. I now regret that. Well, sometimes.
Absolutely nothing that I learned in college is of use to me now. So my advice is to try to enjoy the experience as much as you can. Don't suffer thru courses because you think they'll be good for you later.
