Diamond anniversary couple skydive

An Indiana couple celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary took a different kind of plunge -- from an airplane.

As nervous friends and relatives craned their necks to watch, Albert and Esther McDaniel made their first skydiving jump on Friday. Both jumped in tandem with an experienced skydiver and returned safely to the ground.

"I can't say that I was scared at all," said Albert McDaniel, 88.

His 81-year-old wife, who is legally blind, confessed that she was "weak in the knees."

Earlier this year, the couple read a newspaper article about the Never Too Late Foundation, which grants wishes to the elderly. They contacted the group and told them their wish was to jump out of an airplane.

"We woke up one morning and he said, 'We're boring. We don't do anything exciting anymore,"' Esther recalled her husband saying.

But before Friday's jump in southeastern Indiana, the McDaniels' marriage had not lacked for adventure. The couple has already been whitewater rafting and parasailing.

"They were just made for each other," said longtime friend Mary Hershberger, who was Esther's maid of honour in 1944.

What a cool idea of a way to celebrate sixty years together. (I could never imagine skydiving myself, though; it would do away with me, I'm sure...)

Losing one's anniversary lunch at 30,000 feet are 3 things that I wouldn't want, at least; would you?

I'd try it once, as you never know...

But I can't stand insecure heights...

If I were legally blind like the wife, I might consider sky-diving.

Laughing I did, but Col Man's comment sounds typical of something I would point out in a post, so I laugh.

yeah then i was going to say
'she must have been to marry you'
but then i realised this was probably highly offensive and may have been taken the wrong way by even a good humored comedian such as your self Wink
