Lighting on Persian/Oriental Rugs

I know direct sunlight on any sort of luxury rug is a "no no" but can anyone tell me whether there is specific type of lighting that works best with Persian or Oriental rugs? I just received one in an inheritance but I don't want to cause it any excessive light damage!

@LoneJogger,
As with any sort of rug, avoid direct sunlight. Other forms of lighting, to my knowledge, have no adverse effects unless you're talking about super-bright spotlights.

@Ragman,
Thanks, Ragman! I know the Ardabil Carpet on display in London is only lit at certain times of the day and only for a few minutes at a time to reduce light damage, but I've not been to the exhibit so I'm not certain whether the lights are very bright. I'll opt for soft lighting.
