Good evening everyone,
I'm seeking advice on which major I should choose and what path would give me the most opportunities as a geology major. Next fall, I will be attending UCLA for my bachelors in geology, and I have two options for my bachelors degree. I can either choose a general Geology B.S. or an Engineering Geology B.S. From my limited experience under this major, I have no clue what I want to do in this field, and I want to have as many opportunities for my career available. After researching into Engineering Geology, I love the responsibilities behind it, but I feel if I get that as my bachelors I would miss all the other opportunities to go into other fields within geology, if say I didn't actually enjoy it. So what I'm thinking of doing is getting a Geology B.S. then getting an Engineering Geology M.S. later. Would this give me a good range of opportunities? And does it really matter if you get the Geological Engineering Degree as a bachelors verse a master's degree?
Thank you for any advice you can give me,
Mitch
