If I shared Friend A photo to Friend B via private message, will friend A know I have sent it to friend B and also be able to access my private conversation with friend B regarding the photo?

Not directly, but if Friend B screen shots or copy/pastes the convo into something and sends it to Friend A, then the jig is up.

Next time, don't pass around someone else's photo without permission.
