I used to have Windows XP Professional that enabled searching for a word within a directory of files even if I did not know which file the word was in. I believe I used Windows Explorer.

Now I have Windows 8. How do I accomplish the same thing in Windows 8?

@gollum,
The Windows key + S should open a search system wide, and the file explorer should have a search bar at the top right.

It should work for file contents (as far as I am aware) but if you search for "indexing options" it should take you to settings where you can adjust what is indexed for search.
