The Blinking Banners and Ads which are TOO Bright are attracting my supervisor' attention. Could you please use something less flashy at this forum?

The banners and ads are what helps to keep A2K going. If it bothers your supervisor, maybe you should not be playing on the computer at work!

Probably the banners are for someone too bright, but nevertheless:

rarely that a new member start post so impolite...

Hi Miriam.....

Welcome to A2K!!

I sneak in here during work hours, too..... sshhhh...

Here's a good trick..... keep an official Word or Excel or Whatever document open, with this window on top..... while you're typing a message in A2K, keep the mouse cursor over the "minimize" button..... when some gets close to your desk, just click the mouse.....

LOL.....

And..... don't look guilty.... look serious, like you're really concentrating on your work.....

LOL.....

now just watch, I'll get busted today..... LOL....

Dear PaL's employer,

I can attest that she has been paying close attention to lots of very important-looking spreadsheets, involving vast sums of money and the fate of the known universe.

Sincerely,

Hmm, was that too over the top?

I may be new here, but believe me, I ve seen lots of all kinds of stuff here already. And this not the first forum I've been around.
IMHO it's not nice to lecture a person if you don't have a constructive answer. If you think the message is unappropriate - just report it.

Miriam, again you're welcomed to A2K. I'm sure Thok misunderstood your tone. There are cultural and language barriers that can lead to small misunderstandings in a world-wide forum such as this. I assure you Thok is a wonderful member of A2k and he will greet you as warmly as he does all the others who first post here.

There is actually somewhat of a policy against flashing ads. And they are filtered out by the hundreds. We prevent a certain level of "extreme animation" in the ads.

Now, because it costs money to run the site, we can't deny them all. But if you see a really awful one feel free to tell us about it.

Just use the contact form (links to in the page footer). We'll need to know the name of the advertiser.

Note: we may not agree that it's worth removing, we may not be able to remove it (for various reasons including time etc). We try to keep the obnoxious ones away, but don't make any guarantees.
