My business partner's husband is from Vienna, the Vienna of long ago.
Just before I moved to this small city (25,000 people) in north north California, at the end of 1998, there was a bear shot a block from my second rental place (I lived in three places in three months, don't get me started on that) which is four blocks from where I own a house now. We are urban but sounds outside at night aren't just the wind.
Trust me, I don't think that bear was a danger and I don't get why it was shot for real. On the other hand, I haven't really investigated.
