Question - need method ASAP

Hi,

I have the answer to a puzzle/riddle, but need to be able to explain how I got it. I fluked into it. Can someone please help find out how this works?

The clues:

1) "Will someone get that, already?!"

2) "Your clues are: SMILEY, THE CROW, WRATH, and JET. And they all start with a single point."

The answer ends up being "holy"

How do you get that answer? I think it has something to do with a number pad on a phone, but cant quite get anything to fit.
