I am not registered in the uk for VAT. I live now in Romania but am trying to purchase printing consumables from a UK based VAT registered supplier. They charged VAT on the invoice........is this right?....i mean surely for exports it should be zero rated?.....any replies would be greatly appreciated
I'm not a tax lawyer, but if goods are exported I would have thought them not liable for uk vat.
Take it up directly with your supplier.
Or just send them remittance less the vat.
Or speak to the British Embassy in Bucharest.
(might depend what currency you are paying in)
