How do I close out my facebook account? Not just "deactivate" but eliminate it, delete it, destroy it, scrub it from the servers, scrub it from my computer. I want to have nothing more to do with it. Seems like it should be the easiest thing in the world but I can find no mechanism anywhere in the chaotic FB screens to do so. HELP!
@seminole74,
Permanently delete the account.

As for getting it off Google (I know you did not ask that, but it may be another step in what you'd like done), you'll need to contact them directly and ask for pages to be delisted.

Note: as the FB link above says, some stuff might not be gone. E. g. a friend might have a copy of private messages. There is not a whole helluva lot that can be done about that, shy of telling people you're leaving and asking them nicely to delete that stuff. They may or may not do that.
I deleted mine 3 years ago. I AM SO GLAD.
@jespah,
jespah, whoever you are, you are one of nature's noblemen (or female equivalent of same). Your reply, both instantaneous and right on the money was a godsend. With gratitude and kindest regards, seminole74
@seminole74,
I'm a female-type person. My pleasure!
