I would be particularly interested in Pancho and Robert's takes, and observations by anyone else here who is more knowledgeable than I am about present goings on. Panzade?

I'm a glancing reader from the US, but I have followed latin america off and on, in my way, via books and articles and short visits to Mexico and Guatemala, while still staying essentially a know-nothing. Brazil? I've wanted to go there since 4th grade geography, and decades later found the australian Peter Robb's non fiction book, Death in Brazil, really good, a book I kept.

@ossobuco,
Adds, I don't mind people who know as little as I do or less posting either.

Didn't mean to be elitist.

as is obvious, many of us don't know the whole story; I'm interested.

a clipped quote -
Outside Silva’s building in São Bernardo do Campo, an industrial suburb of São Paulo, supporters chanted, “If you mess with him, you mess with me.”
