@George,
The King James Bible had been "translated out of the original tongues, and with the former translations diligently compared and revised, by His Majesty's special commandment."
The New Testament is widely taken from the Douay–Rheims Bible. And that's an English translation of the Vulgata:
Quote:
et ecce Elisabeth cognata tua et ipsa concepit filium in senecta sua et hic mensis est sextus illi quae vocatur sterilis

@George,
Luther, btw, translated it (in the 1545 version) as "Gefreunde", which means a distant relative, kind of friend.

Leadfoot and George, I think he's saying that the key to the kingdom of heaven lies in whether you believe it's cousin or kinfolk.

Kind of like Lilliput and Blefuscu

@George,
You should understand that the spirit of Ama who we (plural), most if not all, talk to, is the spirit of Jesus Christ.

Where are the original manuscripts? The Romans just left us with translations. You should understand that Jesus was not crucified in March or April but on 08-17, a summer day and not in spring.

@edgarblythe,
Is 3:45 PM the time when Jesus died? FYI, He died at exactly 12 noon.

My cousin, Floyd, was there that day. I think he would know if it were noon or otherwise.

@peacecrusader888,
Jesus was crucified the 3rd hour according to their time which was around 9´clock in the morning.
He hung 6 hours on the cross and that means the 9th hour he was taken down.
3 oclock in the afternoon for us.
They hurried up to take him down and put him in the grave before sunset.
I am not even sure they thought in minutes but only in hours

Whz don´t you just read the bible instead of making up zour own ideas.

@saab,
Time wasn't shown on modern watches in those days. And hours either referred to the Roman civil day (John) or to daylight hours (Luke, Mark, Matt).

Julie and James are my cousins, and we talked this over carefully. We think it means that all the holy rollers will get raptured up out of here, and the rest of us can then lead normal lives without their sorry asses. I also cherish a fantasy that after the rapture they'll all find out that they've been suckered and are going to spend eternity in a lake of fire. Just leave your car keys on the table in the hall, 'K?

@Smileyrius,
The name of Jesus in Greek is Iota, Eta, Sigma, Omicron, Upsilon, Sigma. The Greeks had the Ionic Greek Ciphered Numeral System wherein every letter of their alphabet has a corresponding value. Substituting the numerical values to each letter in the name of Jesus and adding them up, the total is 888.

@saab,
Jesus was crucified on the third hour (Mark 15:25).

There was darkness all over the land from the sixth hour to the ninth hour (Matthew 27:45, Mark 15:33, Luke 23:44). The third hour is 9AM, sixth hour is 12 noon, and the ninth hour is 3PM.
