I was going to message someone on facebook messenger who is not a friend and in the chat box it said xxx used your phone number to contact you. Does anyone know what this means?

This chat message should have an identitfication above it of the person who made this message, if it doesn't then that is creepy. You should go to google and search: facebook contact us. There are some help sites there in the list. The seventh one down is the best site for help by Mari Smith. I hope you solve this problem. Good luck
It was someone I thought I knew. I have never messaged them before but when I went to send him a message on messenger it had brief profike details as always and then that message. I did have my number on there but quickly deleted it.
