A MODEST PROPOSAL

I like the idea. I've thought about drafting recruits for a glorious, evangelizing journey to our closest star, Alpha Centauri. It's only 4 light--as opposed to heavy--years away, and how famous they would be on their return. That would be somewhere over 100,000 years.

However, the Bronze age was a very enlightening era both spiritually and scientifically. The sexigesimal time system--based on the number 60, used both in clocks and maps--was invented, for instance. For our recruits, the Iron Age is more appropriate.
