water softener is 15 yrs old and is working fine. Had person come out to give me quote on new softener and they told me that the softener I have had a problem with the collar breaking and then the unit floods everything. should I be worried about that now?

This is confusing to me..maybe others too. You wrote that it is not broken now so how did this guy get involved? But it's not flooding everything so why listen to this salesman who wants your money and inject paranoia so you get off the fence and buy from him.
Or are you replacing it because you feel like updating it or is it actually not effective any more or it's malfunctioning?
