@weddingdress666,
I went to a wedding once and the very petite bride wore a very traditional wedding dress and veil - only the dress was calf length. Looked perfect. I'm short too - and wore calf-length for my wedding. That was about 25 years ago though - maybe no one wears calf-length wedding dresses now.

I look at wedding gowns all day long as a part of my internship. Petite brides (in English measurements, 155 cm is a little over 5'1" - short but not super-tiny) look best in sparer gowns, like a column design. A-lines look good on pretty much everyone. But a really full skirt and long train does not look good on a petite bride.

@weddingdress666,
But wedding dresses will still burn up on the open flames of tiny grills.

@weddingdress666,
I am (and was) petite just about your height and my wedding gown was something like this:

The top looked very much like this -

But the bottom of it was more plain sort of like the bottom of this one:

@Linkat,
Yeah, too much fluff down below and on a petite bride it can make you look like a big ball of lace. You want to draw the eye upward. Sweetheart necklines look good on a lot of women. Off the shoulder is good if you don't have tons of cleavage - if you do, off the shoulder tends to enhance that.

@roger,
I like the shorter one but only if you want to stray away from a traditional gown. It is delicate which is nice for petite girls.

To be honest the longer one- with all the stuff going on - on the bottom of the dress might be too busy for someone smaller - bigger things look even bigger on petite women.

I would suggest though just try on lots of different dresses. You don't know for sure if a style looks good on you until you try it. For example, I never thought I would like an off the sholder dress - then I tried it on and that was the one I wanted.

@Linkat,
I like the shorter one, too. I'm seeing the occasional short bridal gown, and they can be really stunning.

@tsarstepan,
I was thinking BBQ sauce repellent material...certainly flame-retardant. Must haves.

@weddingdress666,
And I am not saying that the short dress is inappropriate - just what you want. If you want traditional, then I would stay away from a shorter dress. If it doesn't matter, it is a very delicate and pretty dress for someone that is petite.

Think smaller designs and a delicate look to complement a shorter build.

@Miller,
I love the long flowing gowns on brides, with lacey veils streaming and covering portions of the face. Also, everything should be white...(MY OPINION)
