I've found a 1.3m diameter vertebrae and was wondering what is could be off please? It looks very much like a whale bone but never seen one so large?

you should find out the geology and environment from which it came before you do anything else
you did mean 1.3 meters ?

If you found it in back of a school, I might guess it's just a plaster prop from a school play. Legit vertebrae that size are rarely found, but certainly exist. The largest dinosaur vertebra ever found was about that size, from the 85-foot long "Dreadnoughtus."
