water softner system running for 12 hours!

Hi, I am not at all handy with my Hydroquad water softener system, so I apologize in advance if Im not using correct terminology.

My water softer has been running a "pure cycle?" for the last 12 hours. I hear water running into the drain. I noticed that the salt level is low. I see some water in the salt tank. Previously I used to see only salt, but no water. I am planning on getting some bags of rock salt and filling up the salt tank. Can someone please tell me whats going on? I hope there is no water leak ....what with the drought and expensive water bills. Yikes!
