Are you able to tell me about the army ensemble/attire/gear (including clothing, equipment, weapons) of the typical South American foot-soldier (specifically the Ecuadorian and Peruvian) during the late 1930's or the early 1940's?

The truly dapper South American foot-soldier would be clad in designer jeans, open neck shirt, gold chains (usually a crucifix or a coke spoon) and 2-3 inch pump heels. Oh wait a minute! That's the 70's I'm thinking of. Never mind.
