Pronoun error trickey question at least for me

Each of the sentences below contains one of the following kinds of

Pronoun Errors: Ref, AGR, Illogical Shift and Case.. There is only one kind of error per page.

sentence, though there may be more than one instance of that specific error in a

particular sentence. There are no correct sentences.

Because the reader knows that the main character is struggling with a child, this causes the reader to have pity.

I cannot find correct answer. Tried a bunch of different options.
