"Cuts Marked In The March Of Men"~Coheed and Cambria

Listen to the world out on the outside pressing in
are you ready on my mark?
fingers given names and with the last word they ascend
on the comfort of their well being...in arms
into something they can't stop but wish that they could kill
you're the answer to their prayer

[Chorus:]
in your last hour stand
you'll notice the one that you had loved in dreams is here among the others
chase it's you I want but if I can't have her
then why should I spend any more time in a world that's going to end pretty soon?
I need you now more than I ever did
I'll hand myself over for you
this comlink's lost its frequency and I feel that we're coming home short
here take me instead I'd rather not see her off alone

scattered amongst the killing streets the children slate defense
is god's work to have us fail?
rivered blood streams out the dead as bodies foul the air
I'll make peace when this is done
in arms...we storm
slowly the streets begin to fill with new flesh bound to bone
armed and ready it begins again...

[Chorus]

tonight we storm
tonight...

deliver a favor to my love [x4]

[Chorus]

"All alone I
came into this world.
All alone I
will someday die.

Solid stone is
just sand and water baby.
Sand and water
and a million years gone by."

damn, who sings this ?

out on the sea, there is an island
out on the sea, there is a place
out on the sea there's a wave
with the power to save
all the sailors from the dark and the deep
we used to dance in the shadows
under the moon's pale light
away from home and all alone
turning away into the night
and she would shine like a diamond
trapped in a clear crystal ring
and the tears in my eyes
were the stars in the sky
fading away when she would sing
out on the sea, there is an island
out on the sea, there is a place
out on the sea there's a wave
with the power to save
all the sailors from the dark and the deep

I woke up with Bad Boy Boogie in my head about 20 minutes ago and I can't shake it.......at least it's a cool song....very Bi-Polar Bear

On the day I was born the rain fell down
There was trouble brewing in my home town
It was the seventh day, I was the seventh son
And it scared the hell out of everyone

They said stop, I said go
They said fast, I said slow
They said yes, I said no
I do the bad boy boogie

Being a bad boy ain't that bad
I've had me more dirty women than most men ever had
All you women come along with me
And I'll show you how good a bad boy can be

I said right and they said left
I said east and they said west
I said up and they said down
I do the bad boy boogie all over town

I wanna tell you no story, tell you no lie
I was born to love till the day I die
I just line them up and I knock them down
And they all came running when the word got round
(Just keep a running)

I said up, they said down
They said straight, I said round
They said lost, I said found
I said free and they said bound
Bad boy boogie

There's strange weather in the back of the room
And she's pretty, Jesse's spinning the tunes
Eyelashes, and some white leather boots
God, what have I been drinking?
I could be serious but I'm just kiddin' around
I could be anything, anything but sticking around
Love is hell
Love is hell
Love is . . . hell
Is . . .hell

It's raining, I can see it outside
Funny I'm still in it
Just sitting here with Johnny and Raph'
Untll the room starts spinning
I could be serious but I'm just kiddin' around
I could be anything, nothing, whatever, oh well
Love is hell
Love is hell

Sheep Go To Heaven
Cake

I'm not feeling alright today
I'm not feeling that great
I'm not catching on fire today
Love has started to fade
I'm not going to smile today
I'm not gonna laugh
You're out living it up today
I've got dues to pay

And the gravedigger puts on the forceps
The stonemason does all the work
The barber can give you a haircut
The carpenter can take you out to lunch
Now but I just want to play on my panpipes
I just want to drink me some wine
As soon as you're born you start dying
So you might as well have a good time

(ah no) Sheep go to heaven
Goats go to hell
Sheep go to heaven
Goats...go to hell
(ah no...ah yea...ah right)

I don't wanna go to Sunset Strip
I don't wanna feel the emptiness
Bold marquees with stupid band names
I don't wanna go to Sunset Strip

I don't wanna go to Sunset Strip
I don't wanna feel the emptiness
Bold marquees with stupid band names
I don't wanna go to Sunset Strip (hey)

And the gravedigger puts on the forceps
The stonemason does all the work
The barber can give you a haircut
The carpenter can take you out to lunch
Now but I just want to play on my panpipes
I just want to drink me some wine
As soon as you're born you start dyin'
So you might as well have a good time

(ah no) Sheep go to heaven
Goats go to hell
Sheep go to heaven
Goats...go to hell (ah)

(sheep go to heaven, goats go to hell in background)
Gooo to Hell

Gooo to Hell

Gooo to Hell

Gooo to Hell

Gooo to Hell (ah nah)

(fades)

What a kooky song, Cav; I like it.

This song was a demo by Skip Spence and has been going through my mind...

Run away, run away, where you gonna go?
Where you gonna go away to?
Have you got a fine place to slip to when you're feeling down?
Have you had a week or two just to get your troubles down?
Standing like a rock in the bowery
I found a lot of life in that day with a grandfather in the bowery
She had a body of sixteen or seventeen and a mind of forty

I met her on a cold day in a city far away
When the world's about zero
and I saw at once into her soul
She's bound to call me her hero
Standing like rock in the rain, in the rain
I found a lot of life that day
with the grandfather in the bowery..

she had a halo of gold
Told me stories of her life and her courage was sublime
As you're mine, I walk the line

Well stonebound
Tigers and elephants' teeth
Elephants climbin' the zoo
Monkeys and beggars and thiefs
Little orphan Annies too
Everything under the sun
Could be evened out in everyone
But in fact, if I didn't like it that way
I'd have to change it
Hmm hmm hmm
Hmm hmm hmm
Hmm hmm rearrange it

My word, drom. Your Jefferson Airplane reminded me of James Taylor. Don't know why. I guess cause I thought he was referring to the group in his Fire and Rain. Let me see if I can remember those lyrics:

Just yesterday morning they let me know you were gone,
Suzanne the plans they made put an end to you.
Got up this morning and I wrote down this song.
Just can't remember who to send it to.

I've seen fire and I've seen rain,
I've seen lonely days that I thought would never end.
I've seen sunny days when I could not find a friend,
But I always thought that I'd see you again.

Won't ya look down on me Jesus,
Won't you help me make a stand,
Lord knows when the cold wind blows it can turn your head around.
Hours of time on the telephone line just to talk about things to come.
Sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground.

Repeat Chorus.

I thought "the flying machine" was Jefferson Airplane.

Cav, That is one odd song. Shocked

Skip from J.A., yeah, (well, he was only in JA for a short time, but you might remember him better from 'Moby Grape.') That was a demo that never made its way onto 'Oar,' his only solo disc, but I think that it's great.

(Did JT know Jefferson Airplane well, Letty?)

drom and Letty, you should see the animated video for that Cake song, where Kiss makes an appearance in what I think was a church.

I don't think he was referring to JA. Moby Grape along with the group "Love" had a huge impact on me in 1966. I instantly went out and bought a 1963 Fender Jazz bass with a Montgomery Wards "Airline" amp.

drom, I don't know about JT's connection to the Jefferson Airplane. I sorta remember Grace Slick ...but that's about all. I just heard that reference from a hippie friend when I was at UVA. I didn't question them hippies. Razz

Cav, honey. I'll take your word for anything. Kiss in church, huh?

Panz, you're probably right. JT is still hangin' in there although a little the worse for wear.

Watched O Brother Where Art Thou again, so "Man of Constant Sorrow" is still bouncing off my brain.

Today is the anniversary of Elvis' leaving the building.

Kiss in church, yes, and cartoon sheep and goats. Don't dismiss Cake though. They have some fine lyrics:

So you'll be an Austrian Nobleman
Commissioning a symphony in C
Which defies all earthly descriptions
You'll be Commissioning a symphony in C

With money you squeeze from the peasants
To your nephew you can give it as a present
This magnificent symphony in C
You'll be commissioning a symphony in C

Completely filling the palace concert hall
It's warm and golden like an oven that's wide open
It has a melody both happy and sad
Built on Victoria's young triads

You've entered the room with great caution
Though no one in the hall is even watching
They are transfixed
They are forgetting just to breath
They are so taken by your symphony...
In C

You're sitting there thinking your thoughts
They are not about what is but what is not
You are sitting there breathing in your breath
You are seldom breathing life but mostly death

So you'll be an Austrian Nobleman
Commissioning a symphony in C
Which defies all earthly descriptions
You'll be commissioning...
A symphony...
In C

I was lucky to meet Ralph at some festivals. He's an American treasure.
I neither mourn nor celebrate this day. E ate himself to death for our sins.
