Brushing my teeth this morning I had Ray Charles doint 'Hit the road Jack, and don't you come back no more no more no more no more' on endless repeat.

Thanks to the TV that is on in the background, I now have the "I Am Man" song from the Burger King commercials stuck in my head.

Hope and Validation- Tea and Sympathy- Bernard Fanning

Plans and preparations are decided in vain
Think we've seen enough now
Hope and validation are united again

Higher than the buds that bloomed
I've seen it hanging in your face
you may need time to think it over

Set a new direction for the harvest ahead
think we've seen enough now
Built the resurrection of a bond nearly dead
Seen enough now

Higher than the windswept moon
I've seen it hanging in your face
You may need time to think it over

Plans and preparations are decided in vain
Hope and validation are united again
Set a new direction for the harvest ahead
Built the resurrection of a bond nearly dead

Think we've seen enough now
Think we've seen enough now
Think we've seen enough now
Think we've seen enough now

The melody is on a loop in my head. . .

An old favorite Tom Waits tune titled On The Nickel (referring to 5th Ave. where all the drunks & bums hang out) "what becomes of all the little boys who never comb their hair, they're sleeping like a baby now, on the nickel over there"

I have no idea why this thread popped up on my e-mail today. Strange, must be magic. But why not respond, huh? I've been listening to the Dandy Warhols - Cool Scene- and Bohemian Like you and I can't get either one of those songs out of my head- they're really catchy- anyone familiar with them?

Cool Scene

Well I'm just not making a scene, and I really don't feel like I need.
I really don't mean that it's cool, didn't really wanna be in high school.
I'm dealing with the things that I've been, if it wasn't so appropriate then.
I really don't care what I sing, and I really doubt you know what I mean.

And I really don't mean that it's cool, didn't really wanna be in high school.
All the talking fools, what it means, last I've seen.
Baby it's all me, I'm just not making a scene,
and I really felt that you're a cool being.
I really don't know what I mean, and it really isn't worth the trying.
I'm feeling pretty chill with nothing,
like I'm livin' in a world that follows you.
And I really think you know your friends man,
like you're livin' in a social hydrant.

I really don't mean that it's cool, didn't really wanna be in high school.
All the talking fools, what it means, the last I seen.
Baby It's all me. Didn't really wanna be in high school.
All the talking fools, what it means, last I seen, Baby it's all me

Bohemian Like you

You've got a great car,
Yeah, what's wrong with it today?
I used to have one too,
Maybe I'll come and have a look.
I really love your hairdo,Yeah,
I'm glad you like mine too,
See what lookin' pretty cool will get ya.

So what do you do?
Oh yeah I wait tables too.
No I haven't heard your band,
Cause you guys are pretty new.
But if you dig on Vegan food,
Well come over to my work,
I'll have them cook you something that you'll really love,

Cause I like you,
Yeah, I like you,
And I'm feelin so Bohemian like you,
Yeah, I like you,
Yeah, I like you,
And I feel wahoo, wooo

Wohoo hoo hoo X4

(It goes on in the same vein, but this is my favorite verse):
I'm getting wise,
and i'm feeling so Bohemian like you,
You know it's you that I want so to please,
Cause I like you, I like you, I like you, I like you, I like you, I like you
I like you.
And I feel wahoo, woooo
Wohoo hoo hoo X4

I love this song cause of the build-up with the drums in the intro. Right from the start it gets you going. In the beginning it sounds almost like it's gonna be a rip off of Street Fighting Man by the Stones - but then they turn it into something totally their own. It always puts me in a good mood.

"Oh I wish I were an Oscar Meyer weiner etc" My grandson, Jade and I always used to sing this song when he was younger - it would make him laugh ... I was SO hoping to see him today, but it didn't work out. Crying or Very sad Good God, there are nothing like grandkids, are there?

I can't get that Evermore song 'Running' out of my head. It just keeps going and going and going. . .anything with a 'woah' has a good chance of getting stuck in my head. It's got a cool video though.

Running

too many words
too many lies
i cant quite see the truth
when i look into your eyes

Bridge:
i feel im cured
and i know i should
step away turn around
let my feet hit the ground
...running, running, running, running...

Chorus:
you dont need a broken heart
to know one can be broken
you just need to open your eyes.. yeah
we dont need to be decieved
to know a lie can be spoken
we dont have to learn everything twice

I dont know
I really dont know
If this castle in the sand
is strong enough to stand

Bridge:
i feel im cured
and i know i should
step away turn around
Let my feet hit the ground
...running, running, running, running...

Chorus:
you dont need a broken heart
to know one can be broken
you just need to open your eyes.. yeah
we dont need to be decieved
to know a lie can be spoken
we dont have to learn everything twice

Coz i know
how it feels
all the pain
is so real
coz u sink
and you drown
till your feet hit the ground

...running, running, running, running...

Chorus:
coz you dont need a broken heart
to know a heart can be broken
you just need to open your eyes.. yeah
we dont need a tv show
to tell us which way to go
we just need to do what we know

woah woah woah

woah woah woah

woah woah woah

woah woah woah

One of my "Friends" at myspace has this as her song on her page and I hear it a couple of times a day--along with several other people's...but THIS ONE won't get out of my head.

My kids and I joke about the Nickelback guy's issues. His songs are like therapy. He's an emotional wreck. (But I like all of his songs. Embarrassed )

"Photograph"

Look at this photograph
Everytime I do it makes me laugh
How did our eyes get so red
And what the hell is on Joey's head

And this is where I grew up
I think the present owner fixed it up
I never knew we'd ever went without
The second floor is hard for sneaking out

And this is where I went to school
Most of the time had better things to do
Criminal record says I broke in twice
I must have done it half a dozen times

I wonder if It's too late
Should i go back and try to graduate
Life's better now then it was back then
If I was them I wouldn't let me in

Oh oh oh
Oh god I

Every memory of looking out the back door
I had the photo album spread out on my bedroom floor
It's hard to say it, time to say it
Goodbye, goodbye

Every memory of walking out the front door
I found the photo of the friend that I was looking for
It's hard to say it, time to say it
Goodbye, goodbye

Remember the old arcade
Blew every dollar that we ever made
The cops hated us hangin' out
They say somebody went and burned it down

We used to listen to the radio
And sing along with every song we know
We said someday we'd find out how it feels
To sing to more than just the steering wheel

Kim's the first girl I kissed
I was so nervous that I nearly missed
She's had a couple of kids since then
I haven't seen her since god knows when

Oh oh oh

I miss that town
I miss the faces
You can't erase
You can't replace it
I miss it now
I can't believe it

So hard to stay
Too hard to leave it

If I could I relive those days
I know the one thing that would never change

Every memory of looking out the back door
I had the photo album spread out on my bedroom floor
It's hard to say it, time to say it
Goodbye, goodbye

Every memory of walking out the front door
I found the photo of the friend that I was looking for
It's hard to say it, time to say it
Goodbye, goodbye

Look at this photograph
Everytime I do it makes me laugh
Everytime I do it makes me

Alison - Elvis Costello- a major, major favorite of mine. I heard this song and also "Everyday I write the Book" and "The Angels Want to Wear my Red Shoes" tonight and oh my god - it brought back memories. He's just such a genius. Even the stuff he has done with Burt Bacharach is beyond measure. Enjoy!
Alison
"Oh it's so funny to be seeing you after so long, girl.
And with the way you look I understand
that you were not impressed.
But I heard you let that little friend of mine
take off your party dress.
I'm not going to get too sentimental
like those other sticky valentines,
'cause I don't know if you are loving somebody.
I only know it isn't mine.

Alison, I know this world is killing you.
Oh, Alison, my aim is true.

Well I see you've got a husband now.
Did he leave your pretty fingers lying
in the wedding cake?
You used to hold him right in your hand.
I'll bet he took all he could take.
Sometimes I wish that I could stop you from talking
when I hear the silly things that you say.
I think somebody better put out the big light,
'cause I can't stand to see you this way.

Alison, I know this world is killing you.
Oh, Alison, my aim is true.
My aim is true.

Everyday I Write the Book\
Don't tell me you don't know what love is
When you're old enough to know better
When you find strange hands in your sweater
When your dreamboat turns out to be a footnote
I'm a man with a mission in two or three editions

[Chorus:]
And I'm giving you a longing look
Everyday, everyday, everyday I write the book

Chapter One we didn't really get along
Chapter Two I think I fell in love with you
You said you'd stand by me in the middle of Chapter Three
But you were up to your old tricks in Chapters Four, Five and Six

I'm giving you a longer look - everyday, everyday, everyday, everyday I write the book....

The way you walk
The way you talk, and try to kiss me, and laugh
In four or five paragraphs
etc....

(The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes
Oh I used to be disgusted
and now I try to be amused.
But since their wings have got rusted,
you know, the angels wanna wear my red shoes.
But when they told me 'bout their side of the bargain,
that's when I knew that I could not refuse.
And I won't get any older, now the angels wanna wear my red shoes.
I was watching while you're dancing away.
Our love got fractured in the echo and sway.
How come everybody wants to be your friend?
You know that it still hurts me just to say it.

Oh, I know that she's disgusted (oh why's that)
Cause she's feeling so abused. (oh that's too bad)
She gets tired of the lust, (oh I'm so sad)
but it's so hard to refuse.
How can you say that I'm too old,
when the angels have stolen my red shoes.

Oh, I said "I'm so happy, I could die."
She said "Drop dead," then left with another guy.
That's what you get if you go chasing after vengeance.
Ever since you got me punctured this has been my sentence.
Oh I used to be disgusted
and now I try to be amused.
But since their wings have got rusted,
you know, the angels wanna wear my red shoes.
Red shoes, the angels wanna wear my red shoes.

* And if you like Graham Parsons and ever listen to the album Emmy Lou Harris and friends did in his memory - I can't remember what it's called - but anyway - Elvis Costello sings "Through these Sleepless Nights" - it is just a classic - way too beautiful for words to describe. What a great night of music and memories.

Song: I Like The Way...

There's so many things i like about you, I..
I just don't know where to begin,
I like the way you look at me with those beautiful eyes,
I like the way you act all surprised,
I like the way you sing along,
I like the way youalways get it wrong,
I like the way you clap your hands,
I like the way you love to dance,
I like the way you put your hands up in the air,
I like the way you shake your hair,
I like the way you like to touch,
I like the way you stare so much
but most of all....Yeah..most of all....

I like the way you move.....

I like the way you move.....

I heard this song again after a long while last night. It's stuck in my brain, but it's not annoying Laughing I always enjoy singing along ...

Ms. Olga - Now I have " forever young" stuck in my head. Are you talking about the one by Bob Dylan? That's my favorite - it's a classic.

Forever Young (Bob Dylan)

May God bless and keep you always,
May your wishes all come true,
May you always do for others
And let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous,
May you grow up to be true,
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you.
May you always be courageous,
Stand upright and be strong,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy,
May your feet always be swift,
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful,
May your song always be sung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

Or the Youth Group cover:

let's dance in style
let's dance for a while
heaven can wait we're only watching the sky
hoping for the best but expecting the worst
are you gonna drop the bomb or not
let us die young or let us live forever
dont have the power but we never say never
sitting in the sandpit
life is a short trip
music's for the sad man
can you imagine when this race is run
turn our golden faces into the sun
praisin our leaders, getting in tune
the music's played by the mad men
forever young, i want to be forever young
do you really want to live forever,
forever, forever
forever young, i want to be forever young
do you really want to live forever,
forever, forever
some like water and some are like the heat,
some are melodies, some are the beat,
sooner or later they'll all be gone,
why don't they stay out
it's hard to get on without a cause,
i don't want to perish like a fading voice,
youth is like diamonds in the sun,
diamonds are forever
so many adventures couldn't happen today
so many songs we forgot to play
so many dreams swinging out of the blue
left to come true
forever young, i want to be forever young,
do you really want to live forever
forever, forever
forever young, i want to be forever young
do you really want to live forever
forever, forever
forever young, i want to be forever young
do you really want to live forever,
forever, forever
forever young, i want to be forever young
do you really want to live forever,
forever, forever...

I'm pretty sure Olga is referring to the current hit version by Youth Group of Alphaville's 'Forever Young' which is just coming to the end of its 'flogged to death by radio and TV' run in the magical land of Oz.

Yes, I was. It has been flogged to death at my school. Rolling Eyes

But, aidan, I really liked Planet Waves. One of Dylan's gentler, sorting it all out albums. Just played it again tonight after you reminded me. Yes, it is nice! Very Happy
