I see that there are alot of buddhists on this forum. I have always wondered about the belief system that a buddhist adopts. I have a very plain , simple idea of buddhisim that is probally incorrect. I have not done very much reading about it and Im not sure where to start.
I am not looking to convert, but to adopt some teachings into my own life.
Where can I read about what?
What have you learned that I would benefit from?
Where do I start?
Do you work with earth energy too like I do?
What is your concept of gods/goddesses / If any at all ?
Is grounding something that is important in your daily routine?

Share anything with me. I would love to hear what you have to say and any suggested reading is MORE then welcome.

Blessed be... Smile

There are several forums on A2K speaking to this very issue. I'll find those forums for you, and link them to this thread.

tibetan buddhism
hello Smile
i go to a tibetan buddhist monastery in scotland
its the first and biggest in the west founded in 1969
the website if your interested is http://www.samyeling.org
URL=http://www.samyeling.org/]Kagyu Samye Ling[/URL]
you can read about tibetan buddhism and its beliefs on this site Exclamation
also searching in yahoo or google for 'dalai lama' will bring up some things worth reading Exclamation
they work with earth energy and ley lines as the temple/monastery ive been to is built on some Cool
theres even a building called a stupa at the monastery which is a cosmic energy collector and concentrator (like a pyramid) Shocked
they believe in five elements earth water air fire and space(conciousness) and that each being and the universe is made of these Smile
practically they meditate and chant mantras and prayers which creates certain vibrations helpful for spiritual development
there are many buddhas in TB not just the historical buddha and these are worshipped as spiritual deities Exclamation
they are also into reincarnation
the monastery i go to accepts anybody from any religion or any faith or belief not just buddhists as youll see if you go to the website link Exclamation
there is a great feeling of love and peace in this monastery Very Happy
like other religions there are many different branches or sects of buddhism and they each believe different things the three main ones are tao buddhism zen buddhism and tibetan buddhism Cool
my post is solely to do wih the tibetan buddhists and their beliefs Exclamation Exclamation
from the tibetans i learned compassion for others and all living beings thru meditation and mind training Very Happy
its worth buying and reading books by the dalai lama
i think at the end of the day shewolf it dont matter what religion or banner you come under as long as you work towards the greater love and making this planet a better and loving place Very Happy
and im not just a buddhist im into all religions and spirituality and more Wink
but out of everything i found the tibetans one of the most spiritual and helpful for my development.......
OM MANI PADME HUM
ok hope this helps Very Happy
peace and love
byeeeeee Cool
