Braving the elements this morning, windy and rainy, but for you outsiders the rain is urgently required by our desperate farmers.

Can't do that, there is no water in the tanks, hopefully this rain will fill the dams.

We're ok in the City but the farmers in several parts of this country are in dire straits, need rain badly. Every Capital city is on water-restrictions though.

Bad news that, I hope you get a drenching soon, surely you are into normal rainy season now?

Yes, it is winter here but we're not getting solid rains, which is required to fill our reservoirs. Inland there are places that hasn't seen rain for years!

Such a vast country though Dutch, the variations in your weather will be difficult to manage as far as water especially is concerned. I have seen them on TV with water wagons. Don't you think they could do more though, desalination and pipe work would surely be a viable proposition, or are the investments out there not large scale?

Desalination is the next step. Biliton is going to build such a plant in South Australia to supply Roxby Downs, a brand new town in the middle of the desert, 1000km above Adelaide. This is the site of the biggest mine in the world, whether you're talking, gold, silver, lead and most of all Uranium. You have no idea of the enormity of this project. The only way to provide the town with water is a pipeline from the coast.
