U most know that "European" football is what all the world calls football.
"American" football is called football only in the US and Canada.

Terribly sorry, lady, but you sounded like the Briton who was on the shores of Dover a foggy afternoon, could not see the French side and solemly declared: "Oh dear, the Continent is isolated". Wink

Very good explaination, I think. May I ask a clarification?... Is what the world calls football known as soccer to us Yanks or is it more like rugby? ?So, it's 'futbol' en Mejico tambien?

Well, I think you're entitled to the clarification.

For the Yanks, it's soccer.
For the Brits, it's football
For Germans, it's fussball.
For Mexicans, futbol.
For Italian adults, calcio (kick).
For Italian children, pallone (ball).
