Can't figure out what kind of rock or droppings this is.

We found this http://i.imgur.com/whH83dJ.jpg?1 about 15 feet below the surface in Colorado Springs. Extremely hard and durable. Not sure if it is a rock because has the look of maybe being droppings. Any help is much appreciated.

This looks like uranium which is part of Colorado's mining industry.
