In New York City I believe there is a noise code and there are charter schools.

Are charter schools subject to the same noise code as other persons and organizations?

@gollum,

i grew up next to a parochial school with a play deck.

there was screaming every single day throughout the school year.

after a while, we got used to it and it became part of the background noise that comes with living in NYC ...

What kind of screaming? Charter schools are no more allowed to employ torture than any other schools.

@roger,
roger-

The school has an outdoor play area with a basketball-hoop. I believe the children in each school grade have their own allocated time when they are allowed in the play area.

These kids have big lungs!!

@gollum,
Oh. Well, I'm glad to hear it isn't physical torture.

@roger,
roger-

How do I find out whether it violates any law or whether I can do anything about it?

@gollum,
I've no idea, but I bet the answers are no and no. Children are sort of a necessary evil, and they do make noise.

If it were happening in my city, I would do any number of things starting with a complaint to the local school office, then if nothing changed, call city hall or the non emergency line at the police dept.

@gollum,
Good to hear that they appear to be healthy.

That's something to encourage, not discourage.

@ehBeth,
That's how I like kids; healthy and remote.
