Following on from the diplomatic incident in Cannes.

Quote:
New Royal Jubilee Title.

If it be true, and so the story goes,
That, fearing for the Royal Duke's repose,
They would not fire a salute gallant,
But simply, when at Cannes, replied, "We
can't,"

Then should the Prince, not quite a sailor
thorough,

Be known as Duke of Sleepy-'Ed-inboro'.

Got my days and nights mixed up again.

Latin George, thanks for saying our names and that lovely Celtic hymn.

Loved yours by Dee as well, edgar.

You hurry back as well Punch man. Love that quote from Cannes.

I was awakened by a chorus of frogs in the middle of the night:

This is not the song that I remember but it will have to do:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vjDMaJdQYk

and, the night song done by a great male vocalist and a birthday gal:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=533wrou5ONw

Now, the morning done by someone other than Bobby.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_MWzlEacWY

Feeling a bit sad because my neighbors across the street from me moved. <sniff>

Well, I had brunch today and took a cat nap on the fouton here in our Florida radio station. I never use the expression cat nap that I don't think of my calico cat Big Mamma. She was brillant.

Couple of songs for this afternoon, y'all:

First, The Four Lads:

Now, two brilliant vocalists. As edgar/mark knows, Andrea was the first
blind man Not to wear galsses.

I think I like Sinatra's songs from the age he was when he sang Young at Heart best of all. Hard to beat the ones he did with Tommy Dorsey, however.

@edgarblythe,
Connie doing Where the Boys Are was perfect, Mark. You're right about Frank.

Going to say good afternoon a bit early as it is dark and dusky here.

How about Peggy Lee:

It seems there was a problem with French visitors not having their currency recognised by British traders, although I can't find an account anywhere. Goschen was the chancellor at the time.
Quote:
GOSCHEN TO THE RESCUE.

Sing a song of French pence,

Tempers all awry;
None will take the foreign "browns"-

All are asking "Why?"
Small shopkeeper, tramway-man,

Pray keep up your pecker,
You '11 have Goschen's sympathy,

Help from the Exchequer.
To relieve you from your mess,

Goschen says he's willing ;
They shall go, like penny buns,

Thirteen for a shilling.
That shall wipe the 'busman's eye,

Pacify the nation,
And, what's better, purify

John Bull's "circulation."

Hurry back, Mr. Punch, and we always enjoy your info on yesterday.

Ah, I was hoping that Nekonomad would play his song here on the III instead of the first Radio Station.

Today is Harper Lee's birthday and another one hit wonder:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mi88P7KfaMA

Boo Radley was the real mockingbird:

A brief plot summary:

To Kill a Mockingbird is primarily a novel about growing up under extraordinary circumstances in the 1930s in the Southern United States. The story covers a span of three years, during which the main characters undergo significant changes. Scout Finch lives with her brother Jem and their father Atticus in the fictitious town of Maycomb, Alabama. Maycomb is a small, close-knit town, and every family has its social station depending on where they live, who their parents are, and how long their ancestors have lived in Maycomb.

Truman Capote edited it for Harper Lee

Didn't know that one by Andy, Mark. Didn't used to like him either but now I really enjoy his songs.

Going to say good afternoon a bit early as I need to spend some time with my
daughter.

No explanation needed.

At present we don't know much about
"Buffalo Bill," but one thing is certain,
that the Buffalo Bill-poster is doing his work
uncommonly well.

Good morning from a rather breeze free Florida radio starion.

Hurry back, Punch man. Inspired by you:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cg1SE2gR6J0

and one that made me think of Latin George. (It's Duke Ellington's birthday)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qD90wY-V_Qk

now, the lyrics:

Satin Doll
Song by Duke Ellington
Cigarette holder which wigs me
Over her shoulder she digs me
Speaks latin' my satin doll
Baby, shall we go out skippin'?
Careful, amigo, you're flippin'
Speaks Latin that satin doll
She's nobody's fool so I'm playing it cool as can be
I'll give it a whirl but I ain't for no girl catching me
Swich-e-rooney
Telephone numbers well you know
Doing my rhumbas with uno
And that's my satin doll
