@edgarblythe,
Welcome back to you as well, Mr. Creator.

Love that one by Paul. I guess we all know that destiny means
Preordained.

Thinking about my friend Dan Lucas today: (RIP)

Here's Jim Croce that reminds me of him:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvwDohEEQ1E

and, y'all, a movie clip from King Kong.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eahKaU6yW0

Don't bother with all those other clips, dear friends.

Good Jim Croce song, letty.
I liked that King Kong movie. Not as much as the original, but I just accept it as two different movies.

@edgarblythe,
Once again, Mark, thank you for your comment and personal acknowledgement.

More synchronicity because Timi is doing one of my favorites and it was also
done by Perry Como.

Going to say good afternoon now because thunder boomers are everywhere here and it's dark and dusky.

First, Perry:

Now, a poem by Robert Browning:

MY STAR°

All that I know
Of a certain star
Is, it can throw
(Like the angled spar°)
Now a dart of red,
Now a dart of blue;
Till my friends have said
They would fain see, too,
My star that dartles the red and the blue!
They must solace themselves with the Saturn° above it.
What matter to me if their star is a world?
Mine has opened its soul to me; therefore I love it.

and, Linda:

Great having France, England, and Scotland (via McTag and his classics)

and you, of course, Mark:

Two pages today. The main cartoon shows Kaiser Wilhelm I whose birthday was the 22nd March. He was indeed old as he died less than a year later.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/01/Kaiser_Wilhelm_I._.JPG/220px-Kaiser_Wilhelm_I._.JPG

Quote:
William I, also known as Wilhelm I (full name: William Frederick Louis, German: Wilhelm Friedrich Ludwig, 22 March 1797 – 9 March 1888), of the House of Hohenzollern was the King of Prussia (2 January 1861 – 9 March 1888) and the first German Emperor (18 January 1871 – 9 March 1888), as well as the first Head of State of a united Germany. Under the leadership of William and his Minister President Otto von Bismarck, Prussia achieved the unification of Germany and the establishment of the German Empire. Despite his long support of Otto von Bismarck as Minister President, however, William held strong reservations about some of Bismarck's more reactionary policies, including his anti-Catholicism and tough handling of subordinates. Contrary to Bismarck, William was described as polite, gentlemanly, and while a staunch conservative, more open to certain classical liberal ideas than his grandson Wilhelm II.

Good morning from our sunny Florida radio station:

Hurry back Latin George. Loved both of your songs. Didn't know Play That Fast Thing, so thanks again for the introduction. S&G doing Cloudy was marvelous.

Punch man. Knew every bit of your history. Otto Von Bismark and You Are Old Father William was a great memory jog. Did check out Prussia and what a surprise to see all of the countries that comprised it.

Let's begin the day here with three songs. First, one with just the melody:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ropr7y-_Ko

Now, In the Morning Light:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkCX5xp_Crg

and, remembering happier time with my son:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFhUzAwDEz4

Now, the lyrics:

Three whole nights I've lain awake
cock-a-doodle do
For my little rooster's sake,
cock-a-doodle do.
Came the dawn,
cock-a-doodle do.
He was gone.

And I thought my heart would break.

He had feathers blue and bright,
And he crowed with all his might.
(can't remember the next few lines)

So kind listeners far and near,
To my urgent plea give ear. (I think)
(another I can't remember)
Send me back my rooster dear.

Punch continues its campaign against Irish Home Rule, and Gladstone in particular.

Quote:
The Times to Mr. Gladstone.

(Adapted, Quotation.)

" Wretch ! whom no sense of wrong can rouse to vengeance,
Sordid, unfeeling, Parnellite, degraded,

Radical outcast! "

The original.

Wretch! whom no sense of wrongs can rouse to vengeance; Sordid, unfeeling, reprobate, degraded, Spiritless outcast!
George Canning

Good morning to all from a rather chilly radio station here in Florida.

Hurry back, edgar/Mark. Loved Solomon Burke's Just Out of Reach, and I always appreciate your comments on the mix of music and personal acknowledgement.

Hey, Punch man. Thanks for your Gladstone info and quote, and you sent me searching:

Now, a birthday gal, and I sang this one on TV sometime back:

Hard to believe Astrud's song was on the radio so many years ago. I was in the Navy when I first heard it.

@edgarblythe,
Ah, Mark, I had forgotten that you were in the navy. Love that song St Teresa of the Roses by Billy and The Dominoes, and it reminded me of this Irish Song who one of my late husband's Irish friends told him was the true voice of Ireland:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imdkNJCnrOM

Later, we'll do the Navy Hymn, buddy.
