@edgarblythe,
They split up a long time ago. I used to live in the same house as their manager, I went to a lot of their gigs, and got drunk with them on more than one occasion.

While we await edgar's response to the pullman, I missed Del Shannon's Runaway. Great one.

For some reason, y'all, I thought of this one by Bonnie. (hope everyone enjoyed the clowns).

Still waiting, y'all, but it doesn't matter any more.

Here's George Harrison singing:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-KAvPbO8JY

and as edgar knows, music critics once remarked that if they could compare any two voices, it would be Paul Robeson and his marvelous bass voice, and Enrico Caruso as a fantastic tenor.

Paul:

another one black listed by McCarthy.

Last night around 3 AM on the way home from a gig this tune came on the radio and I thought of you dear letty ; as the windshield wipers slapped out their sloppy rhythm.

Chet's tres-cool voice and Bud Freeman's hip piano ride on a wonderful American Standard. Because.
You always look for the sunny side.

@panzade,
Panz/Michael, what a delightful surprise. So glad we're friends again. I will continue to look for that silver lining.

Do you like dogs? Here is a funny version of the American Eskimo, that looks like the one that I used to have.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UIJvu5_ONk

I'll never have another pet because when they die, it's like losing a child.

edgar/Mark I missed your comments and Goodbye Cruel World by that trio, I didn't know

@Letty,
The Temperance movement had a long past.

Quote:
BACCHUS IN IOWA.

A true lay of to-day, full of comfort for Sir Wilfrid and
his merry men.
" Hillo ! " says Sixentus to Bacchus one day,
" I vote we skedaddle out Iowa way.
A teetotal place ? Ah, my boy, what of that ?
They '11 dodge any law who 're in love with your vat.
The artists all paint us two gods of the bottle
Each squeezing a cluster of grapes down his throttle.
Of course we were ne'er such a couple of noddies.
The juice of the grape never entered our bodies,
Until by fermenting, for tippling made good,
And a life of long years in the goatskin or wood;
But these Iowa topers have hit on a plan
Which I think you will own is a topper, old man.
To dodge the harsh law that prohibits strong drink.
They make grapes—indiarubber—and what do you think?
Why they fill them, oh, not with crude juice of the vine,
But with genuine full-bodied, odorous Wine !
They sell these in bunches and boxes, you see,
And a bibulous soul, on the strictest Q. T.,
Can take them about like his weed or his grub,
And so be independent of wine-shop or pub.*
That's something like grape-sucking. So I propose-'
But already the god of the rubicund nose
Was off to the West, followed close by Silenus.
They've not dropped a line, but I fancy, between us,
That in Iowa, where though the Law makes a crime of it,
Men tope, they are having a capital time of it.

* Vide Si. James's Gazette, February 25.

@izzythepush,
Great description of The Temperance movement, Pushman.

Two versions of the same song.

First, Hamp:

Now another:

I like Hampton's better.

I was first introduced to Tony Martin by my older sister, and found out that he sang this one. I named my puppy mill American eskimo Domino because my stray eskimo spitz was named Sugar.

He also played Pepe La Moco at The Casbah.

Two songs for today now.

First, a beautiful classical by Bach:

Now, for our Roman Catholic friends, Celtic Lady.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPeVIuRjUi4

as edgar/Mark knows, one doesn't have to be a theist to enjoy that song.

Latin George, Welcome back to you as well, dear friend. Thanks for your comments on what we play here.

Loved Ah Mary and Grace Potter's song.

edgar/Mark, My right ear is improving. Loved Dinah doing What a difference a Day makes.

Now to match the Wailers:

and to match your Mary:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwudWifcecE

Love that version in a minor key.
