Good morning from our radio station here in Florida.

Hurry back, Latin George. I appreciate your comment on Ray,
and Polk Salad Annie was funny.

You hurry back as well Mon Ami. That guy was great and love it when
you play something in English.

Izziethe pull, We all appreciate your Punch cartoons and info.

Did you send the fog down here to Florida? Smile

Sorry if I missed commenting on anyone's contribution, not up to par today.

Here's a funny on from Lewis Carroll:

@Letty,
It's a very bright sunny day here. London was only foggy because of the heavy industry. That's gone, moved out in the 1950s. If you want fog (smog) look to China.

@izzythepush,
That was a joke, dear friend. Hope you enjoyed Here Comes the Sun by the Beatles.

Another by George: (not King George, Brit)

You missed Lewis' funny poem. I used to call my son: "my beamish boy"

Once again, a call for ALL! Guess everyone knows what I mean.

Today is this guy's birthday. I just found out that nez perce is French for
Pierced nose.

I recall having thought that Joe Nation was an American Indian. I referred to them then as Original People.

My next door neighbor (at one time)Dennis was a full blooded American Indian, and he was pale skinned. Meanin, of course, they were oriental originally). We also agreed that "the noble savage" was not true.

Well, if the world won't come to us, we'll go to the world. Today is this guy's birthday, but first some info:

Ronan Patrick John Keating(born 3 March 1977) is an Irish recording artist, singer-songwriter, musician, and philanthropist. He debuted in 1994, alongside Keith Duffy, Michael Graham, Shane Lynch, and Stephen Gately, as the lead singer of Irish group Boyzone. His solo career started in 1999 and has spawned nine albums. He gained worldwide attention when his single "When You Say Nothing at All" was featured in the film Notting Hill and peaked at number one in several countries. As a solo artist, he has sold over 20 million records worldwide alongside the 25 million records with Boyzone, and in Australia he is best known as a judge on The X Factor.

For our Irish friends be they American or from The Emerald Isles:

Windowgrave
~ Eamon Grennan

The dead bee lies on the window ledge, a relic,
its amber-yellow body barred in black and its head

tucked in, dust gathering on every follicle
and on the geodesic dome of the head—all tucked in

and tucked away, so neat is death. And the many
flies too, all sizes, lying on their sides as if

asleep, just a quick nap and they’ll be up and off
about their business. Souls, we used to say:

bees, butterflies, moths, wasps, all sorts of flies,
the air crowded and loud with leftover angels—

but not the spider in its complex web, fallen
from grace but walking on air, vigilant in ways

that harden the heart, getting its appetite back.

edgar, Loved Fare Thee Well by Harry.

Latin George. Very unusual poem by that Irishman.

Saying good afternoon with another fond memory.

Jim Croce who reminds me of my friend Dan Lucas.

His problem was Parkinson's disease and that was my first introduction.

I recall when I played this so long ago, "the girl" dedicated this to Setanta and then came the delightful Izzie who wanted to know the name of it based on the melody.

Great having England with us today.

Some Victorian humour doesn't translate that well to the 21st century, but this made me laugh. (A lift is what you call an elevator.)

Quote:
GREAT PRIZE.COMPETITION.—£150 to be gained in the shape
of (1), A second-hand Steam-roller (slightly damaged) ; (2), A
Highly trained and Performing Hippopotamus, with red hot pinching
irons and double spring hook whip (for training) complete; and (3), Odd
Volumes of a valuable Cyclopaedia, embracing the portion from M—T
to X—N inclusive, lately the property of a literary Duke. The above
will be awarded to the three best poems in blank verse of sixty lines
in length, descriptive of an ascent in the lift at the Army and Navy
Stores.—Enclose 5s. to Filcher & Co., Blinders' Buildings, Pocketham.

@izzythepush,
One wonders whether the slight damage to the Steam-roller has anything
to do with the availability of the Highly trained hippopotamus.

Good morning from our radio station here in Florida. Yep, George, what the pullman said. I did have to chuckle at the elevator bit, because I recall:

"If Ella Fitzgerald had married Darth Vader, she would have been Ellavader.

Today is Vivaldi's birthday and here is a short version of The Four Seasons.

Until we hear from him, here is Mel:

I watched the film about the Four Seasons. It was well made, but it didn't reach out and grab me.
Mel is always a great performance.

Mark/edgar, Thanks for your comment on Mel. As the Mills Brothers would say:

"I only want a buddy not a sweetheart".

Here's another birthday man, but first some info:

Robert Dwayne "Bobby" Womack (/ˈwoʊmæk/; March 4, 1944 – June 27, 2014) was an American singer-songwriter and musician. An active recording artist since the early 1960s, when he started his career as the lead singer of his family musical group the Valentinos and as Sam Cooke's backing guitarist, Womack's career spanned more than 50 years, during which he played in the styles of R&B, soul, rock and roll, doo-wop, gospel, and country.

Womack wrote and originally recorded the Rolling Stones' first UK No. 1 hit, "It's All Over Now" and New Birth's "I Can Understand It" among other songs. As a singer he is most notable for the hits "Lookin' For a Love", "That's The Way I Feel About Cha", "Woman's Gotta Have It", "Harry Hippie", "Across 110th Street" and his 1980s hit "If You Think You're Lonely Now".

I don't know "the soul man", but here he is, y'all.
