Good morning from our radio station here in Florida.

Two songs for the day here. First, another river, but first some info on the performers:

Little River Band (abbreviated as LRB) is an Australian (now American) rock band, formed in Melbourne in 1975. The band continues to tour and is scheduled to perform around 150 concerts in the U.S. in 2015.

The band chose its name after passing a road sign leading to the Victorian township of Little River, near Geelong, on the way to a performance. Little River Band enjoyed sustained commercial success, not only in Australia but also in the United States. They have sold more than 25 million records and achieved 13 U.S. Top 40 hits, besides many music awards gained in Australia.

Now, the song:

and, for dear Marilyn:

Her death is still disputed.

Thank you says volumes, pull man, and I repeat what edgar/Mark said.

Just a bit of information here from me.

The place where my daughter to me to dine last evening was a bit disappointing as the food was not as good as it was in the past. The only redemption was the full moon and glittering stars. That gave me a memory of someone who once told me that I glittered. Cool

Once again calling all musicians, music lovers, poets and painters.

Today is Graham Nash's birthday, so here he is with his singers doing a tribute to George Harrison.

Oops, sorry that I've made so many mistakes, y'all. I'm blaming it on Windows 8.

UhOh, guess whose birthday is today?

James Joyce and it reminded me of this funny song:

Another golden oldie. Bet edgar/Mark will remember this one. It's no longer High Noon here, but it doesn't matter:

Further explanation, y'all. I'm trying to appeal to a mix of listeners and contributors. Although I am a smooth jazz fan, I have learned to enjoy all genres of music.

Anyone remember The Smothers Brothers?

Today is Tom's birthday. Here's a funny one.

Looks as though it's just me, myself, and I again. Doesn't bother me at all, now.

Thinking of my late husband again who introduced me to the fab four.

@Letty,
Napoleon to the rescue... ;-)

A bit early in the year for this one but who cares?

Voulzy - Fille d'Avril

This girl he's talking about doesn't want to disclose any emotion nor show any skin, so she's an "April's girl" because of a proverb that says in April, one shouldn't shed one thread of cloth (en avril, ne te decouvre pas d'un fil). According to some web translation site, the closest English equivalent would be "Never cast a clout til May be out."

Laurent Voulzy et Véronique Jeannot - Désir désir

Mais toutes les chansons -- but all the songs
Racontent la même histoire -- sing the same story
Il y a toujours un garçon -- there's always a boy
Et une fille au désespoir -- and a girl who's desperate
Elle l'appelle -- she's calling for him
Et il l'entend pas -- but he can't hear
Il voit qu'elle -- he sees only her
Mais elle ne le voit pas -- but she can't see him
etc...

There's a lot about Lord Randolph Churchill's resignation. Now he's known for siring Winston, but in his day he was a high flyer tipped to be the next prime minister. He made Chancellor of the Exchequer under Lord Salisbury, but fell out over the amount of money paid to the Navy. At the end of the day, hubris caught him out, he was not as invaluable as he thought and he stayed on the back benches.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lord_Randolph_Churchill

His resignation was very much resented in the pages of Punch. There is a full page cartoon with Randolph in the foreground dressed as an Eton schoolboy whilst there is an attentive class going on behind. And there's this poem.

Quote:
THERE was a little boy, and he had a little game,
Which he fancied only he himself could play, play, play.
But although it was a lark,
He preferred to keep it dark,
And what it was precisely he'd not say, say, say.

Some thought he'd missed his tip, but others said "Oh no!
He knows exactly what he is about, 'bout, 'bout, 'bout."
But, whether sage or fool,
When his mates went into school,
He chuckled and decided to keep out, out, out.

Says one, "Don't be an ass! You've got into the first class,
You've a level chance of being "cock" and boss, boss, boss.
"Come in and take your slate;"
But says he, "I'd rather wait,
And I'm game to run the risk, and stand the loss, loss, loss."

So here he stands, his pockets stuffed with crackers, squibs, and rockets,
With red and blue fire ready for to burn, burn burn.
Does the little lad mean larks?
Well, he who stands and marks
The youthful pyrotechnist soon will learn, learn, learn!

his pockets stuffed with crackers, squibs, and rockets, These are all cheap fireworks, the sort children could, and did, buy. Now they've fallen foul of H&S law. The squib is still found in the often misquoted phrase "like a damp squib," not "a damp squid."

Good morning from our Florida Studio.

Olivier5, Welcome back and The Girl of April and Lauren's song were great.

wish I could comment on each contribution, but as Perry would say: "It's Impossible.

Latin George, how about some fun now:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNb-TN1J3Hg

and one to match your dance:

Don't know the singer, so here is some info:

Mary Chapin Carpenter (born February 21, 1958) is an American singer, songwriter and musician. Carpenter spent several years singing in Washington, D.C., clubs before signing in the late 1980s with Columbia Records, who marketed her as a country singer. Carpenter's first album, 1987's Hometown Girl, did not produce any singles, although 1989's State of the Heart and 1990's Shooting Straight in the Dark each produced four Top 20 hits on the Billboard country singles charts.

Now, the song:
