Gurda, Welcome back, buddy. Loved that one by Joan as edgar noted.

Mark, Didn't know that one by The Band, but that painting is familiar. Do you know who did it?

How about a little magic by Perry:

That's the cover of the album Music From Big Pink, by The Band. It was painted by Bob Dylan.

Bob Dylan was a painter, Mark? What a surprise. Loved Magic by Glenn Miller, buddy.

Going to say good afternoon with Perry. I never hear him that I don't think of Robert Browning.

From Letty with love to everyone here.

Some Punch articles make sense, others require a bit of research. Take the following.

Quote:
To the Author of "The Ring and the Book."
IF on an old subject again you would sing.
Some truth a particular clique might be taught to.
So pipe, Sir, about the South Kensington "Ring."
And the "Book" which they ought to be brought to!"

From what I've been able to discover, this seems to refer to Sir Francis Philip Cunliffe-Owen KCB, KCMG, CIE (8 June 1828 – 23 March 1894) an exhibition organizer and the Director of the South Kensington Museum in London.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_Cunliffe-Owen

It seems he was quite corrupt, but not enough to actually break the law. He appointed friends and family members and took large amounts of money from sponsors. The South Kensington Ring was his clique. Wiki doesn't say much about that, but the papers weren't quite so forgiving.

Hi everybody! Sorry for the silence.

Charles Aznavour & Liza Minelli - The Sound of Your Name

Starts with 2-3 mn of comedy. The whole show (91) was like that: a mix of comedy and music, and of French and English. You can see those two are having fun...

(yes, she's taller than he is)

Good late morning from our Florida radio station.
Nice to see you back with us Olivier5. Liza and Charles were funny and serious at the same time.

Latin George, enjoyed all of your songs, my friend. Sorry that I can't comment on each one, however.

I think it was our edgar who did Pill Box Hat by "the jester". Thanks, Texas.

Welcome back to you as well, Pull man. You sent me searching for that one, buddy.

UhOh! I lost The Ring in the Book by Robert. Maybe later I can locate it.

Here's a birthday guy that I really enjoy and hope everyone here does as well.

Yep. I like Neil Diamond very much. And I watched Dances with Wolves two times. Remember, if you want to dance with wolves, you must bring a pork chop.

@George,
Yeah, those two can pack a big punch, and they work well with one another. Real 'entertainers' as they say in America, mixing excellent music and light-hearted comedy which such apparent ease. The show was also quite long (they made a double cd out of it) so they must have worked like crazy during the rehersals. I think the mini comedy at the start of the video says something very real: that they pushed hard on their boudaries through long hours of work. To paraphrase Letty, the result is seriously funny.

@edgarblythe,
Funny comment on Wolves, Mark. Wow! That one by Lady Day is a sad one, Texas. Tell Robert Gentle that we have done several by that lady.

Another birthday guy. Don't know him, but here he is with Amy:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91uq7f5g9Kg

and, for our izz with a y, a brief summary of Robert's poem:

The Ring and the Book is regarded as Browning's poetic masterwork. Based on a set of historical and legal documents that the poet discovered in a bookstall in the square of San Lorenzo in Florence in 1860, the poem presents a series of dramatic monologues offering various perspectives on a lurid murder trial that involved a child bride, a predatory older groom, a disguised priest, a triple murder, four hangings, and a beheading. Critics contend that Browning's adaptation of these legal briefs, letters, and pamphlets into a complex, compelling, and well-crafted poem illustrates the poet's wide-ranging knowledge on an impressive range of subjects and constitutes one of the finest achievements in English poetry.
