I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to have cyber friends. Thanks to all of you for being there. edgar/Mark when your La Paloma by Harry showed the rooster as a visual, I thought about my son that we called rooster tail because of the little sprig of hair that was on the back of his head when he was a baby. It reminded me of the miracle of his massages and immediately I did the same on the pain of that muscle in my neck. It worked, y'all.

Milnre's birthday was a couple of days ago, and we sang this one to him. A poem set to music:

and, a birthday guy today:

Morning all, and now some verse.

Quote:
To a Place-Hunter.
WHAT, out of place? Well, man take heart of grace,
Be this your comfort till once more you win it:
A man like you is never out of place-
Save when he's in it!

@izzythepush,
Welcome back, my long time friend. Love that quote, and somehow it reminded me of this movie:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDcMUCpppVs

The basic plot:

A touching tale of a wayward young man who struggles to find his identity, living in a world where he can solve any problem, except the one brewing deep within himself, until one day he meets his soul mate who opens his mind and his heart. There are many stories of Robin's death.

Now, another version of "the dove"

Once again calling all poets, teachers, musicians, painters and music lovers.

Here's the first one that I heard by Billy Joel. Don't quite understand it.

I remember Billy Joel's song as the theme song of a TV series that starred Tom Hanks.

@edgarblythe,
Ah, my long time friend, loved Phil Ochs by William Butler Yeats (pronounced Yates, I think).

I just got a cd by my long time friend Bert Lee. This one that he did that was fabulous. Better than this lady.

Thanks for that info on Billy Joel

Going to say good afternoon with two songs. First, thinking of Bob Hawk Smith. Jes called him "the silver fox". Never know what happened to him, either.

It seems puns were very much the order of the day back then.

Quote:
"SAVE US FROM OUR FRIENDS!" - The Representatives of the Goverrnment in Ireland, when they heard of the Chief Baron's severe remarks on the conduct of the Authorities in the Woodford case, eclaimed. "Who would have expected this from our 'dear old PALLES!"

A bit of digging puts this into context.
Quote:
in the mid 1880’s when Lord Clanricarde’s conduct towards his tenants, especially in the Woodford area had in the words of the Chief Barron Pallas “aroused the indignation of the empire”. Even the London ‘Times’ commented: ‘Lord Clanricarde has treated his tenants with incredible baseness.’

In the two years, 1883 and 1884, Clanricarde drew the huge total of £47,000 from his properties in South East Galway. When a disastrous drop in the value of livestock occurred in the following year, the hard pressed tenants applied for a reduction in the rents. When their applications were treated with contemptuous indifference, the tenants entered into a strict combination of resist Clanricarde’s demand for payment in full. Their action was of paramount importance in the agrarian history of Ireland.
The tenants entered into a common agreement to stand by one another to the end and to resist the landlord’s unjust demands.

Ah, well. Just when one thing gets mended something else breaks.

At least we have had England with us today, but where is France and Scotland? McTag and I go back a long way as well.

When he commented on the heather in my coal scuttle I explained that it had nothing to do with Brigadoon but a jazz man who played Heather on the Hill.

Saying good afternoon with three songs. First two songs by Andy Williams. Didn't used to like him, but now I do.

Now, Olivia Newton John. Had no idea that she was Australian.
