Remembering my Mamma now. My older sister told me that my Daddy was glad to have a girl. Smile

Gentleman Jim:

Mamma loved that song.

Oops, I should have been more specific. I didn't think that my Mamma and Daddy wanted me. She suffered from postpartum depression, so it was a delight to find out that Daddy wanted a girl and that was me.

Thinking of my son today in happier times. When he was just a baby, he had a little sprig of on the back of his head, and we called him rooster tail.

Then as he grew a wee bit older, he sang this one:

Three whole night I've lain awake,
For my little roosters sake,
Came the dawn,
He was gone,
And I thought my heart would break,
He had feathers blue and bright,
And he crowed with all his might.
Send him here, I'll not fear,
Send me back my rooster dear.

Here is that rooster:

@Letty,
Monday mornings bring nothing but blurried eyes and grief. Damn you Mondays. You win this round.

@tsarstepan,
Ah me, I lost my first response to you my long time friend. I always learn from you and you sent me searching:

Basia Bulat /ˈbɒʃə buːˈlɒt/, is a Canadian folk singer-songwriter. She is known for performing with an autoharp.

Loved her doing Gold Rush.

I know what you mean about Mondays. Sad

Two birthday men now. First, Daniel Boone:

Two songs now, y'all.

First a birthday man:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vY-Wn6gjIg4

and one to match Daniel Boone

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dUhtDhRO68

as edgar knows, I never cared for him until I heard him sing that one.

More history mysteries. We'll never know who she was and although Mrs. Anderson of Charlottesville, Va. claims to be her it can't be proved.

Here's a golden oldie to match:

good morning from our radio station here in Florida.

Folks, I can't tell you how great it is to have a friend like tsar. Love Steely Dan doing that Empire State Building Light Show. Smile

Adam Ant? Love it:

and, y'all, our poem for today:

"November comes
And November goes,
With the last red berries
And the first white snows.

With night coming early,
And dawn coming late,
And ice in the bucket
And frost by the gate.

The fires burn
And the kettles sing,
And earth sinks to rest
Until next spring."

Whenever I find myself growing grim about the mouth; whenever it is a
damp, drizzly November in my soul; whenever I find myself involuntarily
pausing before coffin warehouses, and bringing up the rear of every funeral
I meet; and especially whenever my hypos get such an upper hand of me,
that it requires a strong moral principle to prevent me from
deliberately stepping into the street, and methodically knocking people's
hats off- then, I account it high time to get to sea as soon as I can.

Melville's Ishmael sees November as a metaphor for gloom.

Perhaps this gal's birthday will get him to return:
