@George,
Ah, my Latin friend Ella is fantastic. Hope you are as well. Smile

Well, the sun finally showed its face here, but early this morning all the lights
went out in our Floria radio station.

Two songs for the morning here. First, thinking of dear Prince Gautam. Walter said that he had moved to Singapore:

Now, one that I bet Latin George will know. Today is his birthday:

I have decided that the best movies to watch on our rv monitor here are the oldies:

Here are a couple of birthday people that represent them:

First, Lauren:

Now, Colombo. Don't remember one thing about
that series.

@tsarstepan,
ah, my dear Brooklyn friend, loved Postal Services' Such Great Heights. Didn't know it, so thanks for the introduction.

Were you the one who said that you had done a song that created California? I'm not certain that his is the one, but I'll be you and all of our listeners will like it.

@Letty,
I don't have any musical aptitude or at least training so, I never created anything. But I do love the brilliance that are The Eagles. One of the best songwriting groups ever.

@tsarstepan,
ah, dear friend, one doesn't have to have training or aptitude to be a musician. I meant that you acknowledged that song by The Eagles as a group that gave California a new meaning.

Let's remember again:

I once said that if I could compare a poet and a singer, it would be Perry and Robert Browning. Smile

Calling all, y'all. Smile

What a shock to find out that this lady sang the original Don McLean song. I thought that Roberta Flack did it.

First, some info on the lady.

Lori Lieberman (born November 15, 1951) is an American singer-songwriter who accompanies herself on guitar and piano. She first came to public attention in the early 1970s with a series of albums on Capitol Records, one of which featured the first recording of "Killing Me Softly With His Song". After a long hiatus, she resumed her recording career in the mid-1990s.

Now, her version:

good morning, everyone, from here in a dark, dusky, and rainy Florida radio station.

Well, a Japanese man once told me that funky meant tacky on purpose, so I think I'll whine on purpose.

All by myself in the morning,
All by myself every night,
I want to lay my sleepy head
On somebody's shoulder,
I hate to grow older
All by my self. Smile

It's Hank Williams birthday, so here is a tribute and a contribution.

and, y'all a theme song to a movie that I never saw:

Our poem for today, y'all:

Ode on Solitude:
Alexander Pope
Happy the man, whose wish and care
A few paternal acres bound,
Content to breathe his native air,
In his own ground.

Whose heards with milk, whose fields with bread,
Whose flocks supply him with attire,
Whose trees in summer yield him shade,
In winter fire.

Blest! who can unconcern'dly find
Hours, days, and years slide soft away,
In health of body, peace of mind,
Quiet by day,

Sound sleep by night; study and ease
Together mix'd; sweet recreation,
And innocence, which most does please,
With meditation.

Thus let me live, unseen, unknown;
Thus unlamented let me die;
Steal from the world, and not a stone
Tell where I lye.

He also inspired Elvis to sing this one:

As everyone here knows, I love legends.

Shangri-La
Lost Horizon location
Creator James Hilton
Genre Novel
Type Valley

Shangri-La is a fictional place described in the 1933 novel Lost Horizon by British author James Hilton. Hilton describes Shangri-La as a mystical, harmonious valley, gently guided from a lamasery, enclosed in the western end of the Kunlun Mountains.

Ah, well. Guess I had better say good afternoon now and I shall do so with two songs.
First, Don McLean again:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxHnRfhDmrk

Now, Elton and Billy Joel:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcYSSYnf_l8

Incidentally, I forgot to mention that I sang Hey, Good Lookin' on stage.

Also, it was my late husband who introduced me to A Portrait of Jenny, because someone told him that should be A Portrait of Gentry. Smile

Good to have England with us.

From Letty with love to everyone here.

Good morning from a rather uncomfortable Florida Radio Station.

Ah, my long time friend, Roger. Love Jim Croce doing Bad Leroy Brown. He always reminds me of my long time friend Santa Tomas E. Lucas. (Dan Lucas).

Didn't know about the connection with Bobby Darin so thanks for that bit of news.

We both worked in radio together and he got parkingsons disease. <sniff>RIP.

Here's another Jim Croce song that I love, y'all, and it brings back happy memories:
