@edgarblythe,
Mark, I loved Vern doing If You're Gonna Do Me Wrong, Do it right. What a great title for a song.

Let's dedicate this one to all parents everywhere:

another creature, y'all. One flew into our house the other day.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atOSro3_W7c

and, it reminded me of this bridge:

,The Silver Bridge was an eyebar-chain suspension bridge built in 1928 and named for the color of its aluminum paint. The bridge connected Point Pleasant, West Virginia, and Gallipolis, Ohio, over the Ohio River. It crashed, killing lots of people.

Well, what do our listeners and contributors think?

Up early this morning and I am glad that I am.

McTag, great to have you back with us and Bing doing that Irish song was great. My mom loved "the crooner"

Always good to see Latin George with us. My favorite by you was Country Girl.

edgar/Mark, Too bad about Bikel, and If I were a Rich Man from Fiddler on the Roof was fantastic.

Well, This must be Irish Day on WA2K:

Here's Celtic Woman.

@Letty,

My dad used to sing a parody of that song, which was current in Scottish circles in those days, and I always thought the original would have been by the famous Irish tenor, John McCormack.
I was surprised to learn that it was by Bing Crosby.
Good morning, all.

@McTag,
Loved that golden oldie by John, Where the Potatoes grow, McTag.

Here's surprise, y'all, many Scotch Irish folks emigrated to the Appalachian Mountains.

I have the whole of Punch 1887 in one volume. It appears Project Gutenberg does not, so I'll transcribe stuff.

Quote:
"What I want some fellow to tell me," said Mr DUFFER looking up from an advertisement of a forthcoming 'sale at Aldridge's, "is-what the dickens is the use of a broken sporting dog?"

What I find interesting is the apostrophe before sale indicating something is missing. So we didn't always call sales just sales, there was something else that preceded it.

@izzythepush,
Welcome back Pushman. We always appreciate your info on Punch. Strange, I noticed your unusual use of apostrophe, and I guess we both know, that in literature, it means speaking to something that is there when it isn't, right?

Now, a tribute to a birthday guy, but first some info:

Robert Cabot "Bobby" Sherman, Jr. (born July 22, 1943), is an American singer, actor and occasional songwriter, who became a popular teen idol in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

He graduated in 1961 from Birmingham High School in Van Nuys, California. Sherman attended Pierce College in Woodland Hills, California.

Twinkle, twinkle little star we all wonder what you are
Up above the world so high like a diamond in the sky.

Here's another diamond to match your Cracklin' Rosy, Mr. creator:

Odd, today is Danny Glover's birthday and it reminded me of a boy friend that I had in Virginia.

This is funny:

Thanks, Mark. Hope you liked Rocky Top.

Frankly, I don't much care for his work, but today is his birthday:
