Good late morning from our Florida radio station.

edgar/Mark, I loved Harry doing that song and Portuguese has always been a great language to me.

Izz with a y, That second quote of yours was great. I need to check out Measure for Measure, my English friend.

Wow! Latin George, I was concerned about you. Glad to see you back here with us. Glad you enjoyed the hymns.

Here's a birthday guy, and I always enjoyed The Bee Gees.

Now, one of my favorites by this one gone too soon, and his high pitched voice I liked:

Welcome back, Olivier5. You sent me searching again.

Since 2001 Tinariwen have toured regularly in Europe, North America, Japan, and Australia; often appearing at large world music/alternative festivals like Glastonbury, Coachella, Roskilde, Les Vieilles Charrues, WOMAD, FMM Sines, and Printemps de Bourges. Their 2004 album Amassakoul ("The Traveller" in Tamashek) and its 2007 follow-up Aman Iman ("Water Is Life" in Tamashek) were released worldwide and gained the notice of celebrity fans including Carlos Santana, Robert Plant, Bono and the Edge of U2, Thom Yorke of Radiohead, Chris Martin of Coldplay, Henry Rollins, Brian Eno, and TV On The Radio. In 2005 Tinariwen received a BBC Award for World Music, and in 2008 they received Germany’s prestigious Praetorius Music Prize.

For some reason, Mon Ami, it reminded me of Carlo Setanta:

and our edgar's reminded me of this lady.

SONNET #43, FROM THE PORTUGUESE
By Elizabeth Barrett Browning
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints!---I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life!---and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

@Letty,
The Malians would tell you that they have always played the blues, for as long as their 'griots' (sort of poet-historians of West Africa) can remember, and that the music was brought to America by the slave trade. Given how well they can play it, I tend to believe them.

@edgarblythe,
edgar/Mark, Frankly, dear friend, I never cared for Joe's voice, but You Are So Beautiful was good.

Today is Puccini's birthday and I remember him best for Madam Butterfly. Sorry that I can't find the English lyrics.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXfGPOHgImk

the basic idea behind the opera:

Madama Butterfly as a Case Study ... West, about a Japanese woman who becomes the “local wife” of an American soldier and is abandoned.

Saying good afternoon with Andy. I have come to like him. I guess we all know that Santa Claus, and Kris Kringle were used to make kids behave. St. Nickolas was real.

For everyone around the world,

Good to have England and France with us today. Hope Izz with a y is no longer followed by those funny dragon flies.

Jacques Brel - Les Vieux Amants (the old lovers)

I was never a big Brel fan, more on the Brassens side of things -- these two being to chanson française what the Beatles and the Stones are to English pop: they are poles apart and you have to lean one way or the other. Brel is a bit too emphatic to my taste. As he said himself, "where i need a cathedral to express something, Brassens only needs a rose".

But this is about growing old together as a couple... A nice take on it too.

Good morning from an odd day in our Florida radio station.

Izz with a y, Love those quotes, my friend.

Olivier5, I never cared for his voice either, but that one wasn't so bad.

Here's Deano with a memory of France:

@George,
Latin George, Loved George Tucks Band, and Leon doing Christmas Island was fantastic. At first, I thought it might be Hawaii, but when I searched I found this:

one of the islands of the Indian Ocean, south of Indonesia and some distance northwest of Australia, of which it is a territory.

Let me know if that was right.

How about a funny one for today, y'all:

The Four Lads also did that one.

Yes, Christmas Island is a territory of Australia.

Both Christmas Island and Easter Island were named for the days on which
they were first seen by Europeans.

I don't know any songs about Easter Island.

@George,
Thank you, Latin George.

What a surprise to find out that Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day as a poem.

Here's great song done by cellos:

Incidentally Miz Izzie's birthday was yesterday.
