@edgarblythe,
Glad you liked Dolly and Dean. That remark about the college dean was funny.

Going to say good afternoon with three songs now.

First, a birthday guy and here is some info on him:

Clouds float by on a summer sky
Liam John Neeson, OBE (born 7 June 1952)[2] is an Irish actor. In 1976, he joined the Lyric Players' Theatre in Belfast for two years. He then acted in the Arthurian film, Excalibur (1981). Between 1982 and 1987, Neeson starred in five films; most notably alongside Mel Gibson and Anthony Hopkins in The Bounty (1984) and Robert De Niro and Jeremy Irons in The Mission

Odd, I tried to Rose of Washington square to match edgar's Village Stompers and it did work. (grrrr)

Now, The Singing Ranger"

Great mix of music today on our radio.

I've seen the Bounty films and read Nordhoff and Hall's books. Interesting tales.
Good one with the Rose of Washington Square and Hank Snow too.

Sorry I haven't been here earlier. My computer always starts out with frozen screens and no sound. After a time, it gets some better. Thought I would play my favorite Frankie Laine song while I can.

@edgarblythe,
as you know, Mark, Windows 8 gives me all kinds of problems.

Love Frankie doing Midnight Gambler.

Guess I had better say good afternoon while everything is working.

Three songs now. First The Platters. What a fantastic range that one guy has:

Now, after hearing Dean Martin, Peggy Lee and Jack Jones here is his father:

and a funny Buffalo song:

Good evening, WA2K and welcome to the Graveyard Shift.

I'm still mellowed out from "Only You" played by Letty and "Smoke Gets in
Your Eyes", played for us by edgarblythe. You just can't go wrong with The
Platters!

Now I'm feeling like some jazz. How 'bout you?

Having a bit of fun with the adverts of the day. Sounds a lot like the complaints levelled at text talk.

Quote:
A Puzzler.—Abbreviated Advertisements are economi-
cal, if not always intelligible to the uninitiated. Here
is one, extracted from the Guardian :—
ASS.-CURE, or S. C, by expd. Pt. Young, active. Cath.
mus. Married. Oxon pref., but not essen. Address, &c.

"We thought at first that it was a new cure by
donkey-riding, but have been informed, by a reader of
mysteries, "Ass." stands for "Assistant," "Cure " for
"Curate," and so on. But at first sight it is not
" language understanded of the people."
