Happy Thanksgiving,
I'd like to have a string of 25-40 watt bulbs wired similar to a string of Christmas lights, with, a dimmer that would create a least to brightest sequence along the string. How do I do this?

@kathryn1,
Kat we're not quite sure what you intend. To find one readymade, to wire it up yourself, whether the device could control the brightness diff relative to one another, etc

Anyhow happy thanks to U2

@dalehileman,
As usual, Dale doesn't know what he is talking about.

Kathryn1, what you intend to do is not an easy thing to do if you have limited knowledge of how these things work.

You need a controller device that combines a chaser and a dimmer/fader.

Take a look here, maybe it will give you an idea:

Chasers, faders

Alas, as usual

Sorry Kathy if I am misunderstood. What I wondered about your need, whether (a) something sold off-the-shelf; (b) a gadget you might build by assembling individual electrical parts, or © whether the brightness of one lamp compared to another could also be externally controlled

The last of course unlikely
Still happy Thanks

@kathryn1,
Lots of ideas here:

If what you like does not have a dimmer, you can always add one.

Here is one of them for under $50
