[answered] Re-posting Threads

I have noticed, that at times, some discussions do not get desired number of responses if they are posted in any one particular category.
For an example, my thread that adressed recommendations for summer reading and was posted in 'Books' category, did not arouse any interest there. Is it because there are fewer members who 'visit' that particular category?

Anyhow, I wish to make a suggestion.
Is it not a good idea that after a specified number of days, if a thread remains 'empty', either the creator or the administrators of the forum, re-post the same in other categories to see if the same can arouse some interest there?

Just a suggestion. I am not sure if such a feature is active already.
I look forward to your suggestions.
Many thanks!

SonnySon, It's not necessary to repost a topic in another forum. All new posts receive the same exposure when one visits "New Topics" and "New Posts."

Re-posting threads?! Hang on, I've been re-THREADING POSTS for the last two years!! The fences have never looked better, but it hasn't done much for my time online.

Mr Stillwater, LOL. Nice play on words!

cicerone imposter, many thanks for your response. I had noticed that. But don't you agree that some threads in particular, might arouse interests if posted again because of their second 'coming'?

;-)

Just reply to your own topic, and you'll "bump it up" and people will be better able to find it.

PS The admins of this forum will not do this for you, sorry. We're too busy combatting spam. :-D

Gonna mark this one answered.

Alternatively, Sonny San, you can always edit your own comments. Maybe you would want to edit the first post in the thread to edit the headline. You cannot edit the forum choice.

Are you specifically talking about responses here, or "views". If the views are up where you expect, but not the responses, I suppose people are interested, but have nothing to add.

A final, and depressing thought - with limited time, some of us tend to look in on members we consider "known quantities", and bypass the others. Take heart, though. I already know your name, and am more likely to drop in on your stuff than many others - whether I comment or not. Just keep hanging in there.

Sonny San, You can even edit the title of your post. Any time you edit or add another post to your forum, it gets bumped up to the top. Wink

Sonny San - how about posting a link to your 'summer reading' thread here - which might prompt some of us go to look at it .
