I just heard on the radio that the mother of the recently cloned baby does not want her DNA tested.

I wonder why! Crying or Very sad

Interesting, the radio just said that the clonee has parents.

Does a clonee need parents?

Clones have a parent, not parents. Looks like it turned out to be just another scam. Ah, what some people will do for that elusive 15 minutes of fame! Laughing

The Raelian group is claiming that they will refuse any/all testing of the child for legal reasons (i.e. they are afriad the baby will be taken from them..)

If this was on the up-and-up, it seems like the mother would have agreed to have the DNA tested before submitting to this procedure. Also, one would think the Raelians would have checked out the legalities way back when. I was a doubter, and now I'm a true non-believer!

People get fake i.d.'s all the time. If there is a birth certificate, it sure would be interesting to see what's on it.

New Haven- Interesting thought. Are the fingerprints of identical twins the same?

I recall reading somewhere (helfino where, exactly) that identical twins have mirror image fingerprints.

Right now, I can't recall which is correct.

Identical Twins: same finger prints, different DNA profiles
or

Identical twins: different finger prints, same DNA profiles.

I remember that at the time I read this, I thought it was an inconsistency.
If you have the same DNA profile, why not the same finger print pattern?

Well, it looks like these folks should know:

What I gathered from a quick perusal of the net, is that identical twins' fingerprints are similar, but not identical.

Because fingerprints aren't genetic. I believe they are a function of the fetus's time in the womb - I realize I'm not explaining this well, but what I'm trying to say is that they're environmental but not external environment but rather the fetal environment, much like the teratogenic effect if a pregnant woman drinks or takes drugs during pregnancy. The fetus is affected but it's not a genetic thing.

Different finger prints and same DNA profile?

Is this what's to be expected from comparison of mother and clone fingerprints and DNA?
