I have a small dilemma. I'm in an acting class, and my part is that of a police officer. My instructor told me during scene rehearsals that I need to speak with authority, but I don't know how! I'm naturally a very shy, quiet person so I don't really know where to start.
Can anyone give me some pointers?
@Riddle Me This,
Do you know any small children? Think about if they are doing something dangerous. How do you react?
Speaking with authority is easy. I do it better than the toughest blow hards - (when I say this, I mean it from experience). You have to stand - do not quiver. You have to let people think you know that you know them more than they know themselves. Stare them down. When they speak, you ready words to counter any attempt of theirs to elevate themselves higher than you. You bring them back down with your words so heavy, so fierce and so on fire, that your balls burn when you make them lose eye contact with you because of their shame and insecurity surfacing.
@One Eyed Mind,
I suppose it would also help to know what you are talking about.
@neologist,
Apparently, I can make the most social topics seem cryptic because of my large understanding of sociology.
@One Eyed Mind,
Of Course! Nobody here is willing to contend with your social brilliance.
@One Eyed Mind,
It's just. . . just overwhelming.
Honest.
@roger,
Oh?
Is it overwhelming? Or are people underwhelming?
@One Eyed Mind,
Everyone must seem underwhelming to you, your brilliance.
@Lordyaswas,
There is a difference between the power of the sun and the power of the planets revolving around the sun.
Frankly, the people want the truth, but when it comes to them, they run from it, to found themselves within a foundry of lies that are not condoned by wise men.
@maxdancona,
That actually gives me a great place to start from! Thank you!
@One Eyed Mind,
Thank you for your suggestions. I wasn't able to make use of much of it, but the parts I could make use of were really helpful!
