An opal, ( dare we call it pyrophane?)
Mostly fills us with a deep disdain.
But the diamond makes our spirits buoyant
SInce often the stone is quite chatoyant.
Why does an opal fill us with disdain while the diamond fills us so? I know there's a subconscious language behind our relationships with minerals, colors, objects and shapes, but minerals is not my strong suite.
I believe that it was De Beers who started the rumours about Opals bringing bad luck, when they first hit the world's gem markets, adversely affecting diamond sales.
Just saying.

@farmerman,
I know you were, which is why I kept asking.
Such a shame you didn't hang me up, Farmer. You had the perfect chance to tell me that you already told me how they behave... incorrigibly, but since you were ******* around, you couldn't see that.
