I have replaced my PC printer. Do I have a responsibility to have it recycled or otherwise?

@gollum,
If it still works (even if it's out of ink), can you see about giving it to a school, library, or charity? If it doesn't work, there might be an electronics repair school that might want it for the challenge of fixing it. Because it isn't a PC, there isn't a lot of memory (if any) in it, so there's no security issues like when disposing of a computer.

PS You might get a tax deduction by donating. Make sure to get a receipt.

@gollum,
Larger communities have electronic recycling facilities where you can get rid on electronics and they will strip the toxic materials before sending it to the landfill. A quick search on your local government web site should answer the question for your area.
