My 2 cents:
Civilization is a concession to mediocrity in order to secure a brighter future through peaceful dialogue.
Odd, isn't it ? Wink

PS - I am curious to see how the neo pro active atheists will reply to this one... Laughing

Civilization: the collective consciousness, which is propelled by all of the individuals pushing and pulling each other forwards. Both cooperative action and conflict are required.

"Civilization" is most often referring to "stuff" but I dont think this is right...I am reminded of Alan Watts saying that the "church" that matters in not the building that we can the church, but rather is what goes on inside.
