Nomo, Hideo

Nomo makes the most out of his two pitches. He spots his 88-89 MPH fastball in every quadrant of the strike zone and beyond. What lurks behind every offering is the threat of the devastating splitter. When he is behind in the count, Nomo will drop the forkball in at the letters for a high strike. When he gets ahead of hitters, however, is when the pitch is most troublesome. It starts at the belt and dives below the knees, and opponents have a tough time letting it go.

Walks

The longest game ever thrown (twenty-one innings) by a single pitcher without allowing a single walk was played on July 17, 1914 and the control king of record was Babe Adams.
